Fili smirked. “Because your mother thinks she has control over me. But…” Fili holds up the key that he stole from Bobbi’s drawer. “I think we should go see what our forefathers have left for us.”
“Aye… But mother is- she’s mother! You love her don’t you da?” He frowned, his little eyes full of uncertainty.
“I do love your mother, very very much. More than you’ll ever know, but…. It’s not her gold and we should be able to do what we want with it. Besides, Nobody has taken inventory since we gave Dale their share that Thorin promised them.” Fili opened the door and stepped in side, taking a few steps forward only to turn and look at his son. “And I am your father and I am the king of this kingdom. If I say it was alright, then it is alright. And if mother finds out, you won’t get in trouble, it will me be I who gets in trouble.”
Nali nodded and smiled, looking around at all the gold, “Da… look at all of it… its…. so beautiful…” He huffed out. The little boy was so sensitive to gold, he always liked to touch the golden candlesticks that sat upon their dining room table- but Bobbi never let him play with them.
“And its all ours?”
“Every last piece.” Fili said, holding his arm out to his son. “The amount is nearly uncountable. It would take us years to count it all.”
Fili’s voice turned more serious. “But, we are only to use this for good. Gold brings great evil and we have to be responsible.”
