He frowned deeply. “I was fine! I told you to stop worrying about me all the time…”

Fili’s voice turned cold. “It matters because I love you and if anything were to happen to you that I could prevent, I would surely never be able to live with myself. You are everything you me, Lindir. It. Matters.”

“And what of the others?! They could have been killed if I hadn’t stepped in! Don’t you care about them??”

“I have grown up with them fighting wars all of the time, I have spent my entire life fighting by their side. I know their fighting style, I know their skills, their techniques like the back of my hand. Their moves were utterly predictable and I knew they would succeed. I am not used to your fighting style yet… I….you are really aggravating me. Literally, I just told that I love you. That I care about you. That I would lay my life down for you, and here you are, still carrying on about absolute nonsense. Thorin was right, elves are selfish.” Fili didn’t mean to say those words, but they spilled out carelessly. “Lindir… I am so sorry.”

He gasped softly and just looked at him with shock for a moment and narrowing his eyes. Those swords truly stung. “I didn’t do it to be selfish!”

“…you completely dismissed my love for you… how dare you question my feelings towards my kin… my family…” Fili looked down. “I have been feeling lately that I am just another one of your chores.”
